I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for feedback and review.

You're much better suited reading this a couple poems at a time. These poems are just so image-dense. The imagery is evocative and interesting, but if you try to read all the way through in one sitting all the mulberry stained tees hanging off your weary lovelorn body as you look out at a swamp on fire under a red sea of fireworks is just too much, man.

There were beautiful sentences and images and yet I wasn't touched by it...

Lyrical. This collection takes a bit of time to get into, but then transports your into its own sense of place and time. This isn't easy, narrative, quick poetry.

As someone who reads a lot of poetry I appreciated this volume but there are A LOT of reflections, ties, and references to other poets, which might make the collection less powerful to folks who don't have a solid background in poetry.

Beautiful. The poems are so personal, it feels like a memoir at times. I dipped in and out if this collection over the course of a month, reading---and immediately rereading---a poem or two. The imagery is so rich that it begs to be revisited multiple times to get the full effect. There's story here. Highly recommend.
