This is some brilliant speculative fiction. Great word building but not so much that it becomes dense - it all serves a purpose. Cool concept. At times disturbing and heavy but ultimately surprisingly uplifting.

I found this a difficult read to start, but just as the protagonist comes to better understand his alien environs, I came to love this story which ends very strongly.
Another triumph from the maestro of SFF.

The most Tchaikovsky of Tchaikovsky's books.

This is dense with ideas, like all Mr. Tchaikovsky's science fiction, but lacking somewhat in the character arena. I read it in fits and starts rather than finding it easy to read through in a sitting or two secondary to that density, but I did enjoy it. I both love and am unsettled by the idea of composite creatures.
