if someone put a gun to my head and asked me what the plot, or god forbid the THEMES of this cursed play is I'd wrestle the gun out of their hands and shoot myself twice.

The only thing that motivated me to finish all THIRTY SIX pages of this horrid thing was the vague hope of Miss Julie getting murdered by Christine.

(Läst) Kvinnohatet är för mycket för att jag ska orka ta mig igenom detta manus på ett objektivt sätt.

To be clear from the forefront of this review - I am not a fan of August Strindberg. He was a writer who was clearly sexist and thought that no emotion was the ultimate way to exist. While this show is not the worst of his grievances, I will say that it was terribly frustrating to read. From a logical standpoint Miss Julie was in a position of status that Strindberg denies her that opportunity, trying to make her seem like a creature of pure impulse. The following progression of the rest of the story also lacks the clarity it needs due to the muddied intentions of both parties and the bipolar nature that allows them to go through the rest of the play. For it's benefit it is a good example of naturalistic theater with two departures from that narrative. However, I wouldn't recommend it. Machinal or Hedda Gabler are much better examples of similar themes that Strindberg was going toward with better execution.

So dramatic lol
