Exactly what you would expect from a fast-paced and dramatic military thriller. Part of the reason why I loved this so much was because it reminded me of the over-the-top cheesy action movies I enjoy so much.

Easy read, perfect for a holiday or if you feel like looking really intense while riding the train to work.

Nestled away in remote and the unforgiving landscape of Antarctica, a team of divers stumble across something unexpected. In a desperate call for help, the ice station unwillingly attracts more than they bargained for. This will leave you guessing until the last page, who is friend and who is foe?

My first Matthew Reilly novel did not disappoint this action loving fan in terms of non stop action. Any quiet moments were soon disrupted with hell and never seen before fighting tactics. Although the novel is heavily plot driven, character development is not forgotten. Tidbits of information are shared about the characters and no character is safe - who will live and who will die?

I was initially into the premise of this novel, and for the first few pages it kept my interest, but then it devolved and I just couldn't suspend disbelief any longer.

The goal was obviously to make a thrill-a-minute action novel, but it just doesn't work for me. The action comes at the expense of any believability to the story.

It's a quick read, and maybe it's good if you don't want to focus on anything and just have brainless blood and guts and hovercraft race/shoot outs.
