Reagan & Adam were super cute. I really enjoyed Adam and how he was more than just a hockey star.

I'm on my college sports romance kick, and this series is hitting the spot. This is the second book, which follows Adam (Ginny's older brother) and Reagan (Adam's neighbor and Ginny's close friend), who has had a crush on Adam for two years but was too afraid to tell him. Adam has found her attractive from the start, but didn't think she was interested because she's aloof around him, so he never made a move.

I like this premise, where a guy was simply obvious to this girl's crush and never thought much of her until the situation puts her front and center. Adam loves having girlfriends, to the point where he just jumps from one relationship to the next without much time to be single in between. He's captain of the hockey team but doesn't want to go pro. His dream is to be a doctor.

Reagan is a theater major with mommy issues. This seems to be a theme in this series, the idea of failed moms. Heath also had mom issues in the first book. I don't really know a lot about Reagan, even though half the book is told from her point of view, other than her family issues and that she loves performing. She's always described as going along with the things her friends want to do, so I never felt her own likes and dislikes really shine through.

This is ultimately why I went with three stars. The book was fine, it was entertaining, and I liked Reagan and Adam together, but beyond each of their hangups, I didn't really ever feel like I knew them all that well. At times, I found myself wishing to learn more about Rhett or even Maverick. Dakota and Maverick have some vibes that I can't decide if they are romantic or friendly yet and I'll be interested to see if the author explored that in later books.

One other thing I found odd was the idea that a committee handing out medical school scholarship wants the candidates to be in committed relationships? They were all loving that a couple aged 20 and 21 were engaged to be married? That was super weird to me. They are so young for that and it felt very contrived.

Solid read, despite its flaws, though.

3.5

This was a cute little read. I love the characters love story that happens in this book. I like how they both had a crush on each other but they both scared to say anything about it to each other. I love how this one got more involved toward the end of the book like we know they are engaged to each other and they are happy.
