Okay. I'll admit it... I'm 32. A fact which seems to imply that I should not be reading the 'over 50' book. But...

Everyone should give this a read.

'Chris' and 'Harry,' the retired lawyer and active doctor, provide a remarkably simple guide to living. Then they back it up. I'm sold, and I'm not going to wait until I'm 50 to start making changes.

I want to get the most out of my life; don't you?

A doctor recommended I read this so I guess I'd better!

The introduction goes on for-eeeeeeeveeeeeer. They keep alluding to the science, but not sharing it.

The writing is so bad. I couldn't finish.

Basically, eat vegetables, eat less than you used to, exercise daily, vigorously, no excuses, and be in a positive partnership. Also, be engaged in your community; find a way to contribute.

I did not like this book, at all. I didn’t like the style of writing. A book for women should probably be written by women in a way that is appealing. To me, this seemed like they took the men’s version and added a few stories about women. I also didn’t like how they said women didn’t work as hard as men. That being said, if you have an aversion to exercise and you need a kick in the arse to get started, this might be for you. I really didn’t learn much and found it a waste of my time.

I would have rated this book higher if not for the authors' insistance that you have a gym membership. That is financially out of reach for many and you can work out for free at home with YouTube.

hopeful informative inspiring medium-paced

Even though this book is targeted to women in their 40s-60s, the information  is relevant to all age groups and is presented in an approachable way. It’s a good mix of encouraging, but realistic so readers understand they must stay accountable for their own health. I personally enjoyed the chapters on evolution and biology more than the anecdotal chapters. The anecdotal chapters sometimes felt wordy and dragged so I ended up skimming them. Nevertheless, those chapters kept the book entertaining and personable so that the book didn’t get too “science-y” and dry. Good read overall with specific guidelines to lead a healthy lifestyle.

This book was very informative and fun to read. I have made life changing modifications in my daily life. 

Good, sound advice. But loved the "layman's" chapters better than the doctor's. The doctor talked too much about the cavemen:)!

The message of the book is good and it is very readable. The frustrations I felt were only at myself, for knowing that the message was true, but having a hard time implementing in my life. I imagine when I get over at my anger one of these days I'll revisit the book and some of the specifics it offered. First time through, I walk away with some "big picture" things to be working on.
