As someone who is childless (mostly) by choice, I'm often hesitant to read books about pregnancy, but I'm glad I read this one. Actually, these are dream poems more than anything else, and I can definitely relate to having inexplicable dreams. By collecting so many of these poems together, Manning has made the oddness of dreams the focus of her collection, and then we are able to look at the odd, quirky parts of pregnancy and motherhood through that lens. I would never have predicted I'd like this book as much as I did. Perhaps you'll find you feel the same way.
