I luuuuuurved this book — fucking frothed this series — the first books I’ve read from the twisted sisters and they definitely didn’t disappoint — GIVE ME MORE — beautiful savage is book 2 in the Dark Empire Series — by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti — it’s a mafia, who did this to you revenge romance with a killer storyline — pun intended — having retreated to the mountains after losing his intended bride to be slaon in book one — Nikolai Romero (formerly vitolli) — is content to leave the world he knew behind him and hide from his newly discovered brothers — that all does down the crappa when he stumbles upon a half dead woman in the snow — with obvious physical trauma and an inability to speak — he ends up naming her winter — now winter has been put through the ringer — and when Nikolai makes it his mission to kill the 5 men that had been holding her captive and torturing her — it’s really the beginning of the end for his life of solitude — enter his family — exit the mountain — so much happens in this book and I devoured every second of it — and omg the plot twist — no spoilers but — fuck remone — remone’s a pos — definitely a character that you love to hate — from the very first time he enters the storyline — the cop shop, dr and nightclub scenes had me so mad — SO FUCKING MAD — and you can bet your ass that I absolutely loved it when he finally got what he deserved — fast paced read that kept me on the edge of my seat — fantastic series — I definitely want to read more of these guys stuff so hit me with your recs

I almost DNF’d it about halfway through. It didn’t pick up again until about 60-65%.

Just as fantastic as book 1.
Winter was so strong.
Nicoli was perfection.
Great layered story.
Fantastic ending, I just love these brothers and cant wait for Frankie and Enzo to get their stories

Absolutely loved the gruff, gritty aspect of this book. Our FMC is captured and tortured but makes an escape. She’s saved by Nicoli but she’ll die before she lets him take all the revenge. The lengths they go to figure out who Winter is and exact revenge on the people responsible is nothing short of a crazy journey.

I loved every minute of being with Winter and Nicoli and his brothers. This was an exceptional follow up to the first in the series. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Romero brothers are capable of doing for their loves.

Honestly the beginning of this book was 5 stars for me, but then they got off the mountain and the whole mafia family dynamic began to come into the book and I started to lose interest. Don’t get me wrong, I usually love a good mafia/mob romance, but I feel this book could have been beautiful without the whole mafia/mob aspect. Perhaps I set myself up for disappointment by only going by an uncontextual quote on TikTok being the only thing I knew of the novel before reading it. Which may make this review seem unfair, but considering how much I loved the beginning, I felt majorly let down. That’s not to say the writing was bad, however. I can see myself reading more books within this interconnected series and loving the playful and sinister Romero brothers. So I would give this book a try if you’re a fan of mafia romance.
