Willam Golding is a D-1 yapper. I read this book in my english class and if it weren't for my teacher, I genuinely wouldn't understand what is going on. He tries to be very descriptive but it ends up just being nonsense. (it could just be a British literature thing idk) I really like the ending of the book, however, it gives me something to think about, and the characters show many flaws and it is quite realistic for how children would reacted in a situation similar to this. The book is in third person pov, which isn't what I like, but that doesn't mean it was a bad story.

I first read this my sophomore year of high school and I remember not really enjoying it at all. Rereading it 10 years later, also for school, I can see why it is considered a classic. The profoundness of how quickly things can break down without order and the nastiness that can bleed out for those who want authority was very much… something. Truly I can’t think of a stronger word to describe that entire situation between Jack and Ralph. Do I wish the characters were a little more fleshed out? Yes. Do I wish that the poor little one, Simon, and Piggy would’ve been left alive? YES. I understand the need for them to show the true savagery the boys are falling into but COME ON MAN.

I've known of this book since i was young but i never had the nerve to read it throughly until now.
I'm aware that this book is forced-fed in school (I had to read it when I was a sophmore in high school). I'd be surprised if schools still recommend this knowing of all the book bans.
Now going back to speaking of the book. This book is actually a good read, even though you may have to read in the mind of a preteen to teen. There are few scenes in which readers may feel uncomfortable, shocked, and tense (probably even get emotional). I, for one, felt all the emotions that I've listed while reading but kept on. Personally, I enjoyed the book, even though I knew what would happen. I also realized that the 1990s version of the film didn't put certain scenes from the book.

"The mask was a thing on it's own, behind which Jack hid, liberated from shame and self-conciousness."
Boring occasionally. I think there was a little more potential with the “human nature” idea, but I find the length alright as it is.
