This book is so unique that I honestly don't know how to review it.

I wanted to love this book. I tried to love this book. GREAT story, but after much build up for 25% of the book, it dropped off for me. LOVE the concept but wish it could have been fleshed out a bit more, esp that ending...

A book which failed to wow me despite a creepy thrilling plot - With the premise and the type of books I generally like, this book was supposed to be fully in my wheelhouse. But the beginning of the book bored me with various types of guys on cam sites - I am not sure why I needed that information and did nothing for character-building.

This book was also quite bizarre - I keep comparing it to [b:The Mindf*ck Series|44799982|The Mindf*ck Series (Mindf*ck, #1-5)|S.T. Abby|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1554575415l/44799982._SY75_.jpg|54013122] which was also a highly dramatic book but I craved the drama in that book. In this one, it just felt unnecessary. I failed to connect with Deanna and her problems.

Having said that, about half of the book an interesting case arises and I wasn't able to put down the read once that started. It became very entertaining and I picked up part 2. If Deanna can eat healthy despite such unhealthy lifestyle, maybe I have some serious self-reflection to do?

It was just okay, I guess.

The storyline doesn’t really kick off until about 60% in, so it felt kinda slow before that. The first half focuses a lot on other clients, which didn’t seem super relevant to the story, though the issues they’re dealing with are pretty interesting (check the trigger warnings). The encounter between Deanne and Jeremy was probably the most interesting part to follow.

I haven’t enjoyed a book this way in a long time. I loved the multiple POVs, the character development from Deanna (protagonist), and the way the author does a great job of giving the reader closure.

After learning that this novel is 1 of 3 in its trilogy, I’m eager to read the rest of the series.

I was debating whether to give this book 2 or 3 stars. I first went on with 3, but then settled with 2.
The beginning of the novel was pretty interesting, especially reading about Deanna's life as a camgirl, how she dealt with every individual client and was concerned about this particular one's behavior.
The murderous urge didn't work for me. Personally, I would have found it a whole lot more interesting if this was solemnly about a camgirl suspecting one of her clients to be a pedophile. The debate Deanna had whether she was protecting the alleged child by going along with this man's fantasies and keeping it at bay was really interesting.
And then going off to find and save this child? Yes, girl! But it would have been SO much better without the killing desire. I understand this is a series and that it focuses on Deanna's urges (I think? Didn't look up the other books), but I feel like it would have worked so much as a stand alone.
This is pretty much why I didn't give this book 3 stars. I felt like it had the potential to be a lot more than it ended up being. I also had trouble with the writing, so there's that.

This was SO GOOD! I had a few issues with the first half of the book where the character would repeat things that she'd already told us and there were super random chapters that were shoved in to give her backstory that didn't flow with the rest of the story, but when I got halfway through, I couldn't put the book down. I was SO hooked and I just had to know what happened! I can't wait to continue on with the series!

Main character is a sex worker with an uncontrollable desire to hurt people.

Bonus well researched portrayal of webcamming

Great book!
