These 2 stars are mostly a reflection of my experience reading this book. It's just, something about reading this made my mind want to wander and think about ANYTHING else. I just couldn't stay engaged. Like my brain was Teflon. Also, I think I learned that I'd rather see interesting artifacts than read about them.
The writing seemed a little shallow, and the main two characters, Carole and Freya, were unsurprising, and therefore boring. Also, the quotes at the beginning of each chapter got to be really annoying, so I started each new chapter with a little dose of annoyed; not great.

A great plot concept, killed by a writing style that wasn’t quite up to snuff.
The Antique Hunter’s Guide to Murder was a wonderful tale! I love how the story came to be and enjoyed discovering a new author who has a true talent for a cozy mystery!
The characters felt real, the mystery was exciting, the story was engaging and had me curious as to who the culprit was! I enjoyed the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, too.
And now I want to go to the antique shop or an estate sale!

DNFed almost immediately; the voice was too distant and impersonal for me and, like another reader said, Arthur was quickly my favorite character but he got killed off immediately, so. 🤣
DNF. The day I put this down, 40 pages from the end, was a good day. This could have been an interesting story, but it was written in an amateur style that made it hard to follow the story. Details got lost easily in some places, and we're heavy-handedly bashed over your head repeatedly in others. The central mystery of who killed Arthur wasn't compelling enough to keep me pulled in; I lost the thread of why he was killed and honestly why it mattered. An interesting idea poorly executed, and I don't regret not finishing this one.
