This book wrecked me…..that being said - bring on the next one

One of my favorite types of characters is the bad boy who has a secret heart of gold. Oooh...Grayson Crowne is the per-fect character to fill this role. He's rich and entitled and has bullying tendencies for anyone and everyone. This book had me in my feels from start to finish.

Grayson and Story have an unlikely meeting that sets off the script for the entire book. This is a bit of a Cinderella story thrown into a blender with a bully trope. And it's written so damn perfectly. Grayson can't help but be cruel and Story is the hopeless character just trying to get by and survive a perilous situation. There are moments of cruelty between these two, but they soon give way to a frail, intangible link that slowly builds into something truly special.

I love vulnerable men who desperately need the love of a good woman. They're the type of character that I root for, and even though Grayson is a Grade-A prick, his softness is steadily portrayed as one of strengths. Everyone seems to hate Gray, but damn, I loved him.

Are you a fan of forbidden romance? Especially if you're into heir/servant trope? If you do, then this book is absolutely perfect for you.
.
This book revolves around Grayson and Story where the only male heir of the Crowne family got involved with a servant just because he mistook her for his childhood sweetheart. Therefore, he forced her to sign a contract in order for her to help him get back his love.

[Opinion ✍️]
Let me tell ya, this book is one of the best books I've ever read. Hands down, this book left a powerful impact to my feelings the entire time I read the book. Gosh, this is what I called a tragedy love story about two star crossed lovers who are fated to be each other yet they couldn't be together just because of the society's expectations. I couldn't even count the amount of times I was holding my breathe while reading the book because it was extremely intense and the angst was absolutely perfect for me. Not only that, the amount of emotional roller coaster that Mary gave to her readers truly gave us an extreme sense of empathy towards their relationship. This book was truly heart-wrenching for me and the ending? Gosh, never have I ever cried so damn hard. It was extremely heartbreaking and it was very agonising that I need to wait a few months for the next book just to know what happened to them

I do not even know where to begin... I just finished this book today....It totally fucked my mind all up! When you are reading do you ever have songs that relate the story run through your head? I don't! But I did with this one! It was insane! Even a song that I had not heard in YEARS popped in my head and it really seemed to fit! This book made it very difficult for me to breathe at the ending. Seriously there were quite a few things that really got me all fired up at the end..... but that final line in the book..... THAT one totally lit the match! (Not going to lie.... I am still angry AF). I am actually still a little shaky as I type this and it has been a couple hours. Basically this book pulls out so many emotions that it absolutely CAN NOT get any less than 5 stars.... I cried a whole bunch! Now my plan is to relax tonight and then start Forbidden Fate tomorrow to torture myself some more!

*came back and upped my review to a 5 because I can’t get this book out of my head*

Wtf.

Edit- Ok. I’ve had time to calm down and think. Here’s my honest review:

Wtf.

Seriously. Wtf. This book is an emotional roller coaster. I didn’t read the blurb; I just signed up because I knew it was Grayson’s story and I was hella curious. Since I went in blind, I was, unsurprisingly, blindsided, but in the best way. Towards the end I couldn’t read fast enough. I devoured this. Scarfed it down. Gobbled it up. It consumed me. Wtf ever. This book. Wtf.

This is star-crossed lovers on crack. ON CRACK.

Grayson Crowne is not what I expected. Like, at all. In Heartless Hero I hated him. In Stolen Soulmate, well, I still kind of hated him. But I also loved him and ached for him and wanted to give the dude a giant bear hug.

God, and Story. I want to give that girl a hug, too. The turmoil and pain she endures is....whoa.

Let’s just get one big healing group hug that includes everyone EXCEPT Tansy and Beryl because I HATE THEM and want to PUSH THEM OVER A ROCKY CLIFF.

I just can’t. Gah.

At times the plot was a little ott and got bogged down in the Bermuda Triangle of miscommunication. I tripped over a few repetitive phrases, and got a little confused and had to backtrack a few times, but lord jeebus I’m itching for part two. Wtf.

4 stars, but I might come back and change it to 5 if I’m still thinking about this book in a few days.

Wtf.

WOW!! WTF!! THIS BOOK WAS SUCH A FUCKING EMOTIONAL ROLLER-COASTER.

IT WRECKED ME. I wasn't ready for what this book would put me through when I started it.

Stolen Soulmate started with a stolen kiss that belonged to someone else. As the story progressed, it became clear that it wasn't just the Kiss that was stolen, even the place in the heart was also stolen.

Grayson & Story's journey was destined to led to heartbreak before it even started. No matter how much ever love they had for each other, it wouldn't hv survived. It was made clear at the end of the book.

Story was the type of heroine who went thru so much in her life but still never let it bring her down. All she ever wanted was to be loved. She fell for someone who didn't belong to her. The heart want what it wants. We can't tell the heart to whom to love or who not to love. It just happens n that's what happened in Story's case.

Grayson. Honestly when I first met him, I hated him so much especially the way he treated Abigail in the previous book. But when I read this book, and all the events that were intertwined with the previous book n from his pov, I understood why he behaved the way he did. He wore a mask n showed himself the way so that people don't get to know the real him. In order to not be hurt by anyone. He hid so much of himself including how much he cared about his sisters. And no matter how much ever he showed that he couldn't stand them, he cared so much to the point that he even confronted his mother to save Abigail from his abusive Fiance. And also how much he cared about Woodsey. I really did feel so bad for him. That he had to go thru with what he did because of the pressure he had from his family n because he wanted to protect his little nun from his grandfather.

They both were so amazing together. Their moments were filled with softness, cute, frustrating, sadness n heartbreak. They deserved so much better. I hope they get their hea soon in the future. I didn't think I would love them as much as I do now.

I already hate West. When he was first introduced, I immediately started disliking him. He gave me so much creepy vibes. Then later I understood why n made me so angry. I want to hit him so bad. Especially when he is going around thinking he didn't do anything wrong. When he clearly did something that nobody should ever do it to anyone.

Overall this was such a long n difficult read for me. I took at least 4 days to finish it. Coz at times I wanted to throw my phone to the wall with the way the things were going. But still I can't wait to read the aftermath of what happened in the ending of this book in Forbidden Fate n endure more of the heartbreak.

I'm in so many states of shock right now that if my review is a mess, you'll have to forgive me.

BUT IT'S ALL SS's FAULT.

This is my first read by Mary Catherine Gebhard. It really won't be the last.

I basically went into this book blind. I requested an ARC because I saw teasers all over Instagram and I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

I GET IT.

I'm not going to give anything away here, but this book is stunning. It punches a hole in your chest and then comes back a few more times with sharp pointy things to make sure it still hurts.

It grabs you by the hair and you like it. It's hot as hell. It's grim as heck. It's so many things and that's before I even go into not only Grayson and Story, but everyone else.

Gebhard is a master not only of setting a world, but making characters cold, ruthless and domineering, yet so soft and squishy that you want to protect them. HOW YOU DO THAt???

ARC RECIEVED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.
