Was lacking the depth a story like this needs to be 5 stars. Everything was rushed in the end too.

This story was a great story about Kenna and learning not to judge someone based on an accident but knowing the whole person. The relationship that she developed with Ledger and the letter written to Scotty are what pulls the story along. It’s all about keeping the hope and pushing through!
There was before you and there was during you. For some reason, I never thought there would be an after you.
This was an emotional ride. There were a lot of things I absolutely adore about this book. Colleen Hoover’s writing style never disappoints. The characters are endearing and pacing of the story makes it impossible to put down. The depth of Kenna’s emotions is written extremely well. I feel her grief and anger and remorse. Ledger’s moral dilemma is also very interesting, but it was slightly redundant at times instead of delving deeper (though that’s probably the point). I did find the ending unsatisfactory. Maybe its because I’m used to melodrama, but I expected more cathartic conversations for all parties involved. Especially because the conflict in this book cannot be boiled down to simple miscommunication. All said, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love you Colleen Hoover.
There was before you and there was during you. For some reason, I never thought there would be an after you. But there was, and I was in it. I’ll be in it forever.

After serving five years in prison Kenna returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four year old daughter. But the bridges Kenna has burned is providing difficult to rebuild. Everyone in her daughters life are determined to keep her shut out no matter what she does. The only person willing to listen is the best friend of the guy she killed Ledger. Kenna must find away to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to rebuild her future.
I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t love it either was was sort of just meh, I wish people would stop classing these books as romance because this generally just seemed to feel like a whole bunch of trauma with a sprinkle of romance on them. No one in this story even knew how to sit down and communicate and it felt like they were all acting like the daughter Diem’s age instead of being adults about the situation they were in. Really the only person who had sense in this book was Roman and he wasn’t even part of the main plot, if they acted more like that then this book would probably of been a lot better. Honestly, the last 30% of the book was the only saving Grace it had, I will be real I don’t think I will be reading anything else by Colleen.
