Another Colleen Hoover in the books, this read was fantastic! I can see the hype over her as an author now. Her novels are so entertaining and interesting and I can read them all in a day since they are written well, the stories are easy to follow and are clear. Reminders of him made me cry and laugh, it was definitely an emotional rollercoaster for sure just as regretting you was too. This book follows the life of Kenna Rowan who returns to town after serving 5 years in prison for a tragic mistake. She returns to the town where it all went down in hopes to reunite with her daughter (a 4 year old) but the task is proving impossible since everyone is her daughter's life is determined to keep Kenna away no matter how hard she tries to prove otherwise. The characters were so well written and the plot was intense yet amazing. Another great recommendation to anyone wanting an easy read.

This was very close to a dnf for me. I hated this book
thank you to the publisher for this ARC!
“Maybe it doesn’t matter whether something is a coincidence or a sign. Maybe the best way to cope with the loss of the people we love is to find them in as many places and things as we possibly can. And in the off chance that the people we lose are still somehow able to hear us, maybe we should never stop talking to them.”
First things first, I would like to preface by saying typing that quote fully made me cry… so you can understand how I feel after reading the entire book.
Secondly, this has genuinely become my new favorite Colleen Hoover book and one of my all time favorite books in general.
I went into this book blind and I would suggest doing so as well because it hurts even more lol… but if you want to read the blurb you do you.
I DEVOURED this book I read it in just a couple of hours and to say those hours were filled with anything but pure pain and heartbreak would be an understatement. BUT don’t let that scare you because this book was absoltuley incredible.
For starters Kenna is one of those classic Colleen Hoover morally grey characters where you feel so incredibly deeply for her but at the same time you have to forgive her throughout the book. This books huge theme is forgiveness and as we read about Kenna learning to forgive herself (and others), we forgive her as well. Ledger (the love interest) is an incredible character who helps Kenna along her journey, but it is not easy. I do not want to give too much away but I would simply die for Ledger and his love for those he cares about, because he would go to the ends of the earth for them.
At so many points in the book you are rooting for a different character, whether it be the main character or a supporting one. I love books where you are conflicted in who to root for, because in real life not everyone is perfect and this book perfectly shows that.
This book took my heart and shattered it into a million pieces. From chapter 10 on I could not stop crying. While, when I got to the end they were bittersweet tears there was a lot of pain mixed in there. I have not felt this strongly about a book in so, so long and I am happy I did. Colleen Hoover has such an incredible gift of taking us on a painful journey and making the readers feel for every single character in her books. DEFINITELY add this to your TBR!!!!
