*NetGalley review*

The miscommunication trope is my least favorite, but I do love a friends to lovers romance. While this one can definitely be a standalone, I was missing some of the other brothers' backstories by skipping to this storyline. Maybe it was the fact the FMC was named Hailey, but I really loved the banter and watching their story unfold. Was it corny? At times, yes. Was it a bit too much business talk from the Jansen Brothers to the point that they lost me sometimes? Also yes. Overall, it was enjoyable and one I would recommend if you're wanting something light and cute, but also not going to make my top 10 favorites for the year. Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and Sophie Sullivan for sending me a copy of this one.

Cute slowburn friends to lovers romance! I haven’t read the other Jansen Brothers novels (I had no idea it was a series when I picked it up!), but that didn’t hinder my enjoyment of this novel.

Hailey is a salad store owner with skidmarks on her heart from a previous bad relationship, and Wes has basically sworn off relationships in general. Obviously, these two fall in love and it’s cute and wonderful, and everything you want in a friends-to-lovers romance. I really enjoyed the meet-cute scene, and how Hailey and Wes genuinely became friends first and grew closer before developing feelings. This does include some of the usual third-act relationship conflict/drama that I’m not fond of, which prevented this book from getting 5 stars. But definitely a cute read if you’re looking for something fun and light-hearted!

Thank you to the publishers and Net Galley in exchange for this review. Overall, I enjoyed this book but I felt like it went on for way too long. I have never read the other books in the series, so it might have helped to know more about the back story for Wes, but both main characters felt flat to me. When the big conflict came in, Wes's response seemed more extreme than the story had led up to

I've expressed doubt in my personal life about the concept of fancy salad joints and reading the vaguely fatphobic reasons the MC chose to do that was wild. None of the characters were particularly likeable or even interesting (the two are not mutual). Are people this concerned with house-made dressings? I ask this as someone who used to make them from scratch for salads sold AT A BAKERY.

In this final Jensen Brother story (yes, you read that right), author Sophie Sullivan brings the oldest Jensen brother, Wes, to San Verde, CA. After breaking business ties with his father, Wes is looking forward to a fresh start both in business and in life. He has spent the majority of his life under his father's control in order to protect his younger siblings. Unfortunately, this has made Wes very skeptical of love and marriage. Enter Hailey, also new to San Verde, hopes to stand on her own feet in a brand new salad shop. Hailey recently left an awful relationship and is not looking for love but a coffee mishap has her bumping into Wes. Wes and Hailey embark on a platonic friendship, thus creating a guide on how to be friends. Then one day things change....

You will not be disappointed in reading in this final installment of this amazing series written by Sophie Sullivan. I loved every minute of it!

Cute, predictable rom com.

Ultimately I decided life is too short to read books like this and DNFed. I fear that chatgpt is starting to write at least portions of romance novels…that’s all I’ll say.
