What a ride! So enjoyable. It would have been 5 stars if I hadn't guessed the killer. Kind of bummed about that...
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 3.5 stars again for the second CB Strike novel. I love a good detective series that constantly keeps me guessing. Also I really love seeing the two main characters develop and have their own stories outside of solving crimes!
I was so anxious to read this book after enjoying Cuckoo's Calling so much last year. This book did not disappoint. Jo Rowling is such a powerful writer. Cormoran Strike is a fascinating character and I am loving the assistant, Robin, as well. I couldn't check out a digital copy from my library so I listened to the audio, which was superb. I think I will likely check it out in digital or even buy it to keep because I love the way she writes so much.
These are fun, gritty detective novels and I can't get enough.

This was definitely a quicker and I think better written book than the first one. This didn't drag at all and felt a little more easier to follow. This was also a little creepy at times which I enjoyed. I was a little confused on the reveal though it was a little sloshed together but other than that the book was good. I liked seeing Robin be more of a partner than a receptionist, especially in the final chapter as the taxi driver. This was very good and I'm excited to see where the series continues next.
After a brilliant first book of the series, a depressing sequel with characters each more hateful than the other. Read strictly if nothing better to do.
Another page turner for J.K Rowling's Galbraith pen-name. Strike and his secretary/apprentice Robin has to navigate interpersonal miscues, social awkwardness, self-aggrandizing clients and interviewees, and other hazards to solve the mystery of the disappearing writer.
