I'm still really enjoying this series as an adult reading them for the first time. This is the first book where Percy seems to really accept his demi-godness and it makes for some really fun shenanigans. Things are definitely higher stakes, but the writing still makes it lighthearted when it needs to be.

“So," Annabeth said. "What did you want to tell me earlier?"
The music was playing. People were dancing in the streets. I said, "I, uh, was thinking we got interrupted at Westover Hall. And… I think I owe you a dance."
She smiled slowly. "All right, Seaweed Brain."
So I took her hand, and I don't know what everybody else heard, but to me it sounded like a slow dance: a little sad, but maybe a little hopeful, too.”
Oddly enough, I somehow remember less and less as I continue this series, you'd figure it'd be the other way around lolol. My mind just completely blanked on like 70% of this books plot lines until we in the moment, then my brain would be like "oh yeahhhh, I remember now". I really like that the story took a slightly darker route than the previous ones, and I just loved the addition of Blackjack, but the adventure wasn't as enjoyable. Most of the side characters were either really annoying, or just rude to Percy constantly (I'm looking at you Thalia). They did become a bit more tolerable as everything carried on, but that doesn't make up for the chapters where they were being insufferable. At least the ending was exciting!
