This book was so incredibly Finnish from start to end I cannot even start to describe it.
Witty, funny, definitely unpredictable and overall a very enjoyable bed time or commute read. The pages flow easily and each chapter has some sort of closing but without messing with the linearity of the book.
Quite wholesome and even more relatable when you know something about the Finnish wilderness

I wouldn't say this is a bad book per se, but it was definitely not for me. It's meant to be a humorous story, so if you don't share the author's sense of humor, you probably won't get much out of it. There isn't much of a plot to speak of — the novel is composed of a series of unrelated comedic episodes following a man and a wild hare he befriends along the way. The characters aren't particularly fleshed out either. These aren't necessarily "flaws" of the book, because I don't think the author's goal was to do a character study or to tell a conventional story. Nevertheless, this lack of structure, coupled with the fact that I didn't find the main character's adventures funny, stopped me from connecting with the book. It wasn't atrociously written by any means, I just thought it was... a bit boring. Perhaps if I'd been more familiar with Finnish culture I would've enjoyed it more? Who knows.

A delightful, hare-raising romp through the desolation of Finland and Western Civilization. A truly joyful read.

Took me a while to finish because I couldn’t quite connect with the story nor the characters.
It successfully shows in a seemingly nonchalant way how stupid we all are and how much damage we cause to the environment.
That’s possibly my first Finnish novel :) I appreciated the fact that the French editor added a map in the beginning of the book. It sure helped a lot!
