Cherish your moms and cherish your food! That is the lesson Iā€™m taking away from this story!

Such a wonderful concept and collection of intertwining stories! I am always amazed at how Nagare is able to find the details to the dish with just a few descriptions or words. And all the food talk and description really had me hungry and picturing Ghibili food throughout the entire book šŸ˜† 6 stories and 6 different dishes. All unique in their own way. This book really exemplifies how food and our memory are closely connected with each other.
I do wish he treated Drowsy better though :(

A cute, short lighthearted read. I think I expected something different from the cover and the writing was very simple, but I still had a good time. If you enjoy this type of cute japanese stories, you will probably enjoy this one too :)

My only regret in reading this book is not knowing more about Japanese cuisine. But after reading it I can say that I know more about it now then before.

The book have things in common with Before the Coffee gets Cold in that each chapter follows the same formula and follows a new character. Someone arrives at the Kamogawa Diner in hope of having a dish from their past recreated and their reasons for wanting it. Skip forward in time and follow them as they taste the result and an explanation from the Chef/Detective of how he did it.

Stories that follow a formula like this one is not for everyone but it works for me. I really recomend it if you like cooking and/or Before the Coffee gets Cold.

Also, unlike Before the Coffee gets Cold, the cat on the cover on this one is actually in the book

Thank you Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Well, now I'm incredibly hungry...

This is essentially multiple short stories about food. Long descriptions of incredibly delicious sounding food with a cute little backstory of each person who comes seeking out the hidden, unassuming little building with no signage.

Very much just a cute, light tale with bite-sized (hehe :3) stories guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Even through the sadder stories, hope and human kindness & connection through food shines through strongly. Mix that with loveable characters and well-written food descriptions and you have a book that I kept thinking about even after finishing!

I absolutely see this easily turned into a little tv show, each episode being a different person seeking their food. From my googling, I couldn't find any adaptation of it - though I did see it's a pretty lengthy series so please oh please translate more!
