OMG!! THIS BOOK BROKE MY HEART AND THEN PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AGAIN!!!!! I'm still tearing up thinking about that ending :) Review to come!!

Update: More of my reviews can be found on my blog: Literary Exploration

If A Need So Beautiful is a look into the purity of good, than A Want So Wicked opens our eyes to the damaging effects that evil has. A Want So Wicked is from Elise's point of view (not Charlotte's,) and we learn more about Onika and her past which is definitely something I enjoyed. I loved A Need So Beautiful, but A Want So Wicked tore me up inside; there's a depth of emotion to this story that was a bit lacking in ANSB. It was heartbreaking watching Elise's life shatter and piece itself back together as she realizes who she truly is.

Elise's definitely a different character from Charlotte, but I still found myself drawn to her. Also, Harin is back and hotter than ever! I really fell in love with him a second time around. There's a new love interest named Abe who was positively charming in the beginning until I realized he was actually very creepy. There was something really off about him that I didn't quite understand. I think the most interesting part for me is the connection I saw between Elise and Charlotte. While Elise has her own personality, there were qualities about her that reminded me of Charlotte and I loved how Young combined the two girls into one cohesive character.

The story line itself was pretty similar, but still different enough to keep me interested. I loved learning more about Onika and how/why she became a shadow. There's a lot more backstory given in A Want So Wicked that helped piece a lot of things together. The plot was really unpredictable, I completely did NOT see that ending coming!!! I'm really hoping there will be another book in this series to tie things together, I can't wait to see what's going to happen to Elise and Harlin!!

If you haven't already picked up this series, I definitely recommend it. Just make sure you read A Need So Beautiful first!!! Overall, I really loved A Want So Wicked much more than A Need So Beautiful. I'm always a fan of the darker side, so getting to see that made everything much more enjoyable. The characters are as amazing as ever, and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next! Fans of angels, demons, romance, and intrigue will want to pick this one up!!

A Want So Wicked is the fabulous sequel to A Need So Beautiful. I love these book, although A Need So Beautiful is still my favorite. This is a much different story with new characters, new places, but there are a few familiar faces that you will recognize from the first novel. Now, even though the story is different, you’ll still want to read book one.

A Want So Wicked is a continuation of Charlotte’s, although she’s not exactly in the story. Confused? I was a little bit too. In A Need So Beautiful we learn about the compulsion, the “need” that Charlotte has been battling. In A Want So Wicked we learn a bit more about the bigger picture that was only introduced in book one with the scary Onika.

This is Elise’s story.

She just recently moved to a new town after the death of her mother with her father and sister. She’s been having these visions or dreams and has no idea what they are, but she’s too afraid to mention them to anyone. What could these strange visions be!?!

Throw in a cute and charasmatic co-worker (Abe) and the motorcycle riding bad boy (Harlin) and you have one confused girl! And yes, the bad boy with the heart of gold is back! Yay Harlin!

I didn’t connect with Elise as much as I did Charlotte. I wanted to slap Elise a few times. Come on girl, open your eyes! And even though I was excited to see Harlin return, I wasn’t really digging his relationship with Elise. Hoping something will go on there in book three. It was just missing something, or maybe I was just so used to him and Charlotte.

I loved learning more about the darkness and the crazy Onika. I can’t wait to see where that develops. The ending was crazy pants! Need book three, ASAP!

Overall, this was a great sequel. I love this work that Young has created and the characters too!

A Need So Beautiful was one of my favorite books of 2011. A Want So Wicked is definitely going to be on my list of favorites for 2012. I am in awe of Suzanne Young's talent and I can't wait to see what she does next.

The story is a bit confusing in the beginning. Things are going on with Elise that she can't quite figure out and to be honest, neither could I. Things all went back to Charlotte, the Needs, and Onika but the reader was definitely kept guessing through most of the book. There were so many twists and surprises. With all that you don't know and want to find out this book is nearly impossible to put down.

Elise is a lot like Charlotte. She is kind, brave, funny, smart, and oh, extremely attracted to Harlin (for reasons she can't explain at first.) Elise is most like Charlotte in the fact that you can't help but cheer for her. It's impossible not to want this girl to triumph over evil and get her happy ending. Then there are the boys; Harlin and Abe. Harlin is just as amazing as he was in A Need So Beautiful. He is actually better because he has grown in his time without Charlotte. Abe is a bit of a mystery. He is very clearly a bad boy but you can't help but like him. He has his moments. As for Elise's family, Lucy and her dad, they were great. Lucy had secrets of her own but her love for Elise always showed. Their dad may have had to work a lot but he was always there for them. He was a great parent.

The romance in this book has to be one of my favorite things. It is intense and steamy and sexy and just so real. It is not insta-love and you can actually see the attraction between the characters growing into something so much bigger. Suzanne Young has a gift for romance.

Overall, A Want So Wicked is the best possible follow-up to A Need So Beautiful that readers could have asked for. It may have actually been better than the first!

"You have to follow your need. It's the only way to remember."

The interesting story line and the idea and adventure I saw in the fist one....it just couldn't carry me through this one. Filled with silly, stilted conversations and almost silly situations or horrible ones, this one I found myself rolling my eyes more than enjoying it.

Beautiful Cover!

I sat down to read this not knowing what to expect because the end of "A Need So Beautiful" did not sit well with me, however, I did like the concept and I was curious to see what would happen next. (I do think it's important to have read the first book to understand what's going on.)

I DEVOURED this book in just a few short hours!

When I finished, I wanted my review to be this... Harlin. THAT IS ALL! ;)

What I need to say...

The Shadows are coming and seventeen year old Elise will have to face them, whether she's prepared or not. The problem? She doesn't know who she is or what the Shadows are.

When Elise moves with her older sister, Lucy and their Dad to Thistle, Arizona, her focus is on making friends, getting her first job and starting a new school. Things don't go so smoothly, especially when she begins to have visions, ones that involve seeing into other people's lives, random strangers who tell her about these Shadows and when she looks into the mirror, her reflection isn't always her own. Oh yeah, why does the name Charlotte sound familiar? What.Is.Going.On?!

Despite being beautiful, Elise has zero experience with boys (that's Lucy's expertise) yet she somehow manages to find herself caught between two cute but very different guys in a short amount of time. (This does not sit well with dear old Dad). Abe, her co-worker is charming and all kinds of cutesauce but he also has a bit of reputation around town. Elise likes him but his behavior confuses her at times, especially when Abe acts like she's his shiny new toy and he forgets the kindergarten lesson that, "sharing is caring". She can tell he's harboring a sadness behind that Mr. Popularity act of his and has a desire to help him.

Then there's Harlin, aka "Hotsauce on Wheels". He's the mysterious new guy in town who Elise feels an immediate connection too, almost as if she loves him already but how can that be possible? She just met the guy! Harlin is laugh-out-loud funny, sweet and Dad seems to approve but Elise can sense a grief in him too and it breaks her heart. They enjoy moments of witty banter that had me snorting and others that had me fanning my face. *fans face*

Being the object of two boys' affection isn't the only problem Elise has though. The visions become more frequent, blurring the lines between waking and dreaming. She learns that Shadows are the Forgotten who struggle with the Want and if she doesn't stop them, they will destroy everything that's good. Familiar faces both good and evil return in this thrilling sequel that leads up to an ending that's as beautiful and shocking as it is heartbreaking.

I truly enjoyed Elise, even more so than Charlotte. *ducks flying tomatoes* I loved her wit and her heart. She loves so deeply and chooses to see the good in people despite the choices they've made.

I loved Harlin but, seriously, this IS Harlin we're talking about. *rolls eyes* ;) While it's obvious he's struggling with his grief over losing Charlotte, he hasn't lost any of his sense of humor. I'd say he's my favorite character and it's not because of his looks. (Well, maybe a little bit) He knows his role as Seer is important but he's not entirely comfortable with it yet. As we saw in the first book, he has a rebellious streak but he's very tender hearted and has difficulty letting go which makes him all the more swoon worthy. *hugs Harlin*

Some of these characters make choices that just break my heart for them. As I was reading it made me think of how people in our own lives make choices that leave us broken hearted and powerless to help them. But you know, it's really not our job to save or change people, only to love them.

There's an EXCELLENT example of this that takes place in the ARC that I have which has a note in it explaining that it's an early copy and edits could still by made to the ending but I really hope it makes it into the final copy. (I've omitted the names to avoid any spoilers.)

Character 1: "I'm sorry I couldn't save you," I murmur. "I'm so sorry, (my omission)."
Character 2: "It was never your job to save me, (my omission). You were only meant to love me."

When I first read A Need So Beautiful, I was overcome with a sense of peace. It was one of those rare books that broadcasted its feelings onto me. I felt content and happy-just as if a Forgotten was nearby and fulfilled their Need. A Want So Wicked was a little bit different. For much of the book, I had moments of shock, and for that I am grateful! I enjoy being surprised, even though I did guess and figure out a few things. A Want So Wicked was still beautifully written. Yet it was so different.

Elise is figuring things out and as readers we get to experience all of her emotions with her. While there wasn't as much Need-fulfilling as was in ANSB, it was still interesting with some twists and turns along the way.

The Love Triangle:
This was a good one and it worked extremely well for the story. I am also happy to report that not only did it not piss me off but I am happy with the outcome.

All in all, AWSW was a wonderful book about a pastor's daughter who thinks she is losing her mind, but instead is meant to help the world. The ending hints at a third installment. Oh man, I really hope there will be a third! I'm not ready to give up this story. There is still so much for us to learn!

3.5, Loved this book more than the first which doesn't happen often at all. I just found all the characters more likeable than in the first even though most of the main ones were the same :) read it in 2.5 can't wait for the next.
