Estoy empezando a leer este manga y la verdad el tomo 1 me ha sorprendido bastante, me ha gustado mucho el desarrollo de la historia y el personaje principal es muy bueno.

(Claymore just shows that men are absolutely nothing without women, and that they will ALWAYS try to find a way to control them.)
Wonderful wonderful manga series!!! (Yes, I will be reviewing the whole series here.) I reread it and it’s just as amazing as I remember it if not better. The art is stunning as well. Search it up plz.
In the world of Claymore, there are beings that feed on human organs and flesh called Yoma. To combat them, The Organization (unnamed) creates and sends out half-yoma, half-humans called Claymores; The Organization and Claymore don’t actually have names, people only refer to them as those names.
I find that people who’ve read this (literally only the first volume) say Claymores are just powerful, personality-less, and apathetic, and fit into the “weak humans need saving” troupe. SHUT UP!!! A significant trait about Claymores is that they are not human—rather, they believe they are not human; their job is to slay Yoma, and move onto the next city to slay another again. And they had to go through extreme torture in order to become a Claymore in the first place. And most of them have had traumatic ass experiences before their turning; in fact, I think they don’t even remember their lives as humans. Teresa is a good example of a Claymore who has trouble experiencing and feeling emotions (until Clare), and knows she is missing her sense of humanity.
This seems like the normal monster vs. monster-human fight, but this is SO much more than that. I promise. I can’t dive too deep into the story because it will inevitably be a spoiler, and finding out yourself would be so much better. But I will be dumping all my thoughts in the later parts of this review!
The main character of this series is none other than Clare, named after the twin goddesses of love. Teresa, who bears the other name of the twin goddess, plays a significant role in this story as she was the person who shaped Clare into the person she was throughout the series, specifically her, at first, reason for living. I found this to be such a beautiful part of the story because Teresa and Clare (not the goddesses) embody love and fierce desires to protect loved ones. Anyway, Clare finds Raki and sees herself in him and the story begins there.
My thoughts without spoilers:
This series really displays the extent of experimentation and just how far the people are willing to go in order to achieve results. It just kept getting more and more fucked up like holy shit. The characters were just amazing—you will literally feel EVERYTHING for 65% of the character, I swear.
Just read it, I beg.

—DUMP OF THOUGHTS!!!! SPOILERS!!!!!—

I cried so much. Like actually. I felt it in my butt that the organization was behind everything, but I also completely forgot that everything happening was in an island separate from the mainland. The Yoma and everything were made for the war. LIKE WTF??? AND the fact that The Organization just started creating Claymores out of LITTLE GIRLS. I cried when Jean and Clarisa died like OH MY GOD. AND WHEN TERESA CRIED WITH CLARE. I CAN’T. I also felt so horrible for Isley and the way he died—his “false” idea of a family. Isley is also FINE AS FUCK. Ugh, you can never really hate anybody in this series (EXCEPT FOR THE MEN RUNNING THE ORGANIZATION). And PRISCILLA??? Don’t get me STARTED. I felt horrible for her when it was revealed that the reason why she clung onto Teresa’s scent, was because she longed to die, and the curse that she put upon herself as her last act of human rebellion, being unable to see little girls. I really felt for her then, and when she spent a whole month with her death family, with her dead Yoma-father who she killed by herself at such a young age. Jesus christ. Just blame it all on The Organization. SPEAKING OF THEM (again), they are ABSOLUTELY INSANE for making those abyss feeders like EUGGGGHHHH WTF???? THEY JUST NEEEDDDD TO KEEP MAKING THINGS LIKE EEUUGGGHH

on the list of women who can do no wrong in my eyes, and i will protect forever, clare has risen among the ranks and she’s going to stay there. i didn’t really expect much from the first volume but i found myself completely engrossed and in love with the simplicity of the story and the way it was told. additionally, i was in the mood to read a fantasy manga which felt just right and this delivered.

there was no heavy info dumping or long winded explanations. instead, the lore was shown, not told in a very simplistic and straightforward manner that really worked for the story.

things i loved:

- clare’s bewitching badassery and i’m excited there’s even more of that to come
- minor SPOILER………….. that clare allowed raki to join her on her adventure because it made me so happy to see her have a companion and for raki to have someone too
- raki’s ability to cook. for some reason i love seeing characters eat and his eating and cooking was an added bonus
- the depth shown in clare’s character even though it just hit the surface but it was done really well.

the first volume really got my attention and i will definitely be continuing the series. i just wish the art was much more detailed and in the style of berserk but the style still works so i won’t be complaining much.

it feels so good to find another manga series to obsess over and hopefully i don’t lose interest too soon.

Came to this with the promise of lesbian-coded women with big-ass swords, and was not disappointed. This manga has an interesting concept and some pretty cool fights, with a fast-paced story and compelling characters. I am not the biggest fan of the art (everyone has the same face!), and there were a bunch of info-dumping and clunky dialogue, but overall I liked the experience. Let's see if I'll continue!
