Thank you NetGalley for my ARC of Something She's Not Telling Us! I flew through this plot driven book in just a few sittings. I loved that we got a glimpse into current time then the story went back and you learned the entire backstory. By time we got caught up with current day it completely changed how the beginning felt. The ending of the book was unfortunately anticlimactic. This is the first I've read of Darcey Bell and I'd love to read more.

This book was a bit of a slow burn, with a fast middle and a strange ending. It seemed like a family drama more than a thriller to me. Most of the mystery of this book seems to have to do with mental illness. It did have a quote that I thought related well to our lives now: “To be alive at this moment and not to be worried would be clinically insane.”

Loved the suspense and build up to this book! My only issue is the ending and I felt like this was true of A Simple Favor too: the ending just doesn’t quite come together or have a good conclusion. I feel like it almost nails it but isn’t able to stick the landing. Just my opinion. I did read this in one sitting so it definitely kept me engaged.

This book started off really interesting. It kept me guessing and then it just sort of stopped. The book ended. I was trying to come up with theories the whole time, but I still have no answers. Definitely would be better if there were a sequel.

Likes: The pacing of this story is spot on - once you get going, there's no stopping and it's a fast read. The villain's story builds perfectly, and you're actively trying to figure out if this woman is a master manipulator or actually has issues.
Dislikes: The fucking ending. It just ends. And there's no resolution on what happens to our villain, or how the big secret reveal by Charlotte goes. After all the build up, it was so disappointing when it just ended. Literally every character is unlikable, but you end up cheering for the mom because the second a child is taken, you of course are going to sympathize with the mother.
Will definitely recommend this to people, because it was so fast and engaging.
