Dickon is the OG Disney princess. Colin is very annoying and whiney. I started this book years ago when I got it for Christmas and stopped about halfway through and now I remember why. For like about 75 pages it was very hard to get though because of him.

My therapist and all of science say how important going outside into nature is for you and your health. This book is 300+ pages saying the same thing. But this made me actually want to go out this time. Basically a self help book for how to improve your mental health.

Loved it more when it was just a lovely childhood memory.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and really didn't think I would. It was a beautiful story, and had such amazing character redemption and growth arcs. I also really loved the message of the overall story, and the power of Magic.

The language came as a shock at the beginning. The book is from 1911 and it shows as it's description about India and Indians is really racist. But otherwise the tale and the way it describes the impact of neglect and the impact of love feels timeless.
