Kitty was a complex character and not always “likable,” which I think was a strong point of this book. The challenging decisions she faced were evident and her handling of certain situations showed her humanness.
Overall, I found major plot points of this book predictable and minor ones a bit confusing.

I wish there had been more focus on Hazel, Kitty, the Golden Girls - more insight to their lives, the struggle, the fight. The reader got glimpses, but at times it felt very surface level. Theirs were still the strongest chapters in the book though, keeping me absolutely riveted to the pages. The “present day” flashes - while needed to explain how this all “started” - felt like they added nothing at times.
Moderate: Death, Rape, and Murder
