3/5 stars - I listened to this book on audio, and it wasn't the best narration (Grover Gardner narrator). I'm not sure if it was the book itself or the narrator, but it certainly felt very "old timey." That being said, I can REALLY see the influence of this book on Orwell's "1984," even some of J.G. Ballard's dream-sequence stylings. It's safe to say this book was foundational to dystopian novels, which is so interesting. The I vs. We is also clearly a reflection on Russian Communism at the time, so a mix of social commentary and sci-fi, which I suppose all sci-fi novels truly are.

Difficult read, had a hard time telling the difference between metaphors and reality. The ending KNOCKED ME DOWN! D 503 NO!

this one caught me by surprise with how much I liked it. the writing style was really fun and i’ve said it before but i’ll always love a little freak of a character and D-503 was definitely that

I didn’t particularly enjoy this book. But it was very interesting to read a a precursor to 1984 and A Brave New World.
