I can’t believe this book was nominated for a Hugo, I think it is terrible. Boring, confusing simply for the sake of being confusing, and only mildly funny in places. The dolphins are the best part. This is a book that won’t age well. Avoid.

Okay, listen—of course I was going to love this book. I’m a full-blown cat person and this book? It has intelligent, snarky cats who basically run the show. Say less.

The beginning was a little slow for me, but once it got going, it really got going. Totally bonkers in the best way. It walks that perfect line between ridiculous and clever, with a plot that just leans into the chaos without taking itself too seriously. Honestly, it felt like Scalzi was having as much fun writing it as I did reading it.

The cats? Amazing. I would 100% let them take over my house and probably my life. The ending wrapped things up in a really satisfying way too—not overly neat, but just right for the tone.

If you’re into cats, villains, or weird little books that somehow manage to be both sharp and totally off the rails, give this one a shot.

A great book for someone who wants a silly comedic screenplay with minimal immersion in the universe. Not for me but an easy read.

This was delightful and exactly what I needed. I adored the characters (especially the cats.) The story was imaginative- a lot of fun with a great mix of action and humor. I listened to the Audio as narrated by Will Wheaton who was very engaging, but some of his character voices/accents would just slip/disappear mid sentence which was a bit weird. All in all a fun, fast paced book.
