I was in a bit of a reading slump and wanted a bit of a mental pallet cleanser. Just a short, easy scifi read that was enjoyable and didn't require a ton of mental investment. Starter Villain was pretty much exactly that.
I really waffled between 2 and 3 stars for this book. Pretty much any other time I think I would've given it 2 stars because the plot was pretty mundane, characters were all 1-dimensional and it was not so much science fiction as fantasy day dreaming. Wheaton's narration was very over the top. But at the same time that is exactly what I was looking for so landed on 3 stars.
