I thought it was supposed to be an adult romance but read like ya.

Really enjoyed this romance. It had characters with backgrounds you don't often find in a romance novel (Paleontologist-Quentin and baker-Alisha). Character development was good and their relationship was definitely what I'd call a slow burn. Small town dinosaur bone find was a fun premise and I really enjoyed all the characters. It dealt with some heavier themes like figuring out what you want to do with your life, feeling responsibility to help family, weight/body issues, small town gossip, and academic job quirks. I hope there are more in this series!

Although a baker x paleontologist romance seems like a ridiculous premise, I was pleasantly surprised by how good this book was! The romance was romancing and the two leads had great chemistry. The dinosaur dig background plot was complemented by the personal growth both main characters worked through together as their connection grew. Honestly a really cute read!

Okay, I need to talk about how cute this was!!!
For starters, while I'm sure it's pronounced differently, the main character and I practically share a name!!! I'm Alysha and she's Alisha! I did NOT know that when I picked up this book, but I loved it!
Speaking of - I picked up this book mostly because of the weird-ass one-liner and the comments on the Facebook ad.

I picked this one up purely for the premise. Small town girls dreams of moving to Chicago to open her own bakery when her family discovers dinosaur bones in their backyard. Enter a hunky paleontologist from Chicago who has the potential to make all her Jurassic Park fantasies come true.
Despite being obvious this was Blumberg's first novel, the whole thing was charming and did what it set out to do. The descriptions of both Hawksburg and Chicago were evocative. The nerd appeal of a girl who had a Jurassic Park fan club falling for a real-life paleontologist was delightful. The struggles of a girl who wants the big city but feels the extra strong family ties that a small town creates were real.
Overall I really enjoyed it and am interested in what Blumberg will come up with next.
