So so so delightful. I can't remember if I read this as a kid — it jogged my memory at parts but I can't tell if that's just the whimsy and fairy tale nods.
Apparently “ordinary” is synonymous with “ugly”? Who knew... This book was basically surface level nonsense and focused entirely on looks and talking down grand things. I am absolutely flabbergasted by all the 4 and 5 star reviews. But to each their own I guess. The concept really could have been cute but it just never dipped beyond looks and cliches. I won’t be re-reading this with my daughter after all.
This was one of my all time favourite childhood books. If you haven't read it, it is worth it. I think every little girl (and boy) should read about Princess Amy along with Cinderella and Beauty
If you're looking for something cute that will make you happy look no further. This is freaking adorable. The illustrations are breathtaking.
Cute story! I didn’t know it was a children’s book but it shows haha.
I read this book many many years ago, and I first read it in Cricket Magazine. Which was awesome. It was serialized for like, a year, and I remember much later collecting up all my Crickets and looking through them and finding this story again, and then sorting through all my magazines to make sure I had all the parts. It was very complicated, but oh - how fantastic is this story?

Recommended by a friend, this is a cute story and a quick read. It was written a long time ago so some of the attitudes and some of the jokes come off as a bit dated, but I liked it overall. 3.5/5 stars
I pre-read this book to read to my five-year-old this summer. I loved the story! I found myself cheering for Amy in all her ordinariness. This is a great story and I'm excited to read it with my daughter!
