TRIGGER WARNINGS: Gang rape

What the hell was this. The description is NOTHING like what the book really is. Intriguing plot, mystery and intrigue. Where? Where the hell was that bc I saw none of it. I thought it would be about 2 detectives? Maybe working  high profile case, case that’s certainly what the description says. No it’s basically about 2 police detectives having sex and calling each other lover, constantly. Oh and God’s (yes I can’t get over that either) strained relationship with his family. And to call it strained is putting it extremely mildly. I also wish the author had thought to put any type of trigger warning at the begging of the ebook or on her website that gang rape happens to the main character and is talked about. I almost stopped when that came up about 50% through but figured I was halfway through the book surely I can push through and eventually get to the plot. Nope.
Also this which happened 10% through the book really pissed me off

“He looked to his left and saw a plump waitress coming toward him. Her breasts were ample, and her tight black jeans showcased her very wide hips. God never understand why women with considerable midsections wore halter-tops. He was a believer that it was actually sexier to wear clothing appropriate, not only for your age, but also for your body type. It was apparent this waitress immensely enjoyed the southern cuisine served at the multitude of buffets Atlanta had to offer.”

At the beginning of the book God goes all hulk on a fellow officer for being homophobic, rightfully so, no one should be judging another person for this. But then the author goes on to write a fat shaming 2 paragraphs that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the plot and NEVER comes up again. This author is now on my never read list. To put someone down so completely bc of how they look- she obviously likes her southern cuisine too much. And the jackass dubs her “cornbread” in his head. Nope you know what I was going to give this 2 stars bc I hate giving 1 but this royally pissed me off.
