This was an achingly beautiful story. I like this author’s style of storytelling. Her emphasis on individual development and growth makes the love story (stories) in the novel so much more poignant. I also really appreciated the writers note at the end of the book.

This book is the perfect summer read. January, the protagonist, is a well written character yet I felt some of the details about her life are very vague. For example, January used to be very close to her parents yet there is no mention of any other family at all but she shows no anger towards her extended family and since she is quite clearly heart broken about her dad's passing it seemed a bizzare gapping plot hole. But overall this book was great, definitely recommended as a book to take on holiday!!

my fav of emily henry’s books! i was excited to read every page. i think the way henry builds her characters to be imperfect in this novel is both endearing and relatable. we are complex & layered beings with complex & layered emotions that can be simultaneously foul & lovely. this story’s characters wrestle with the good & ugly in themselves and the people around them in very human ways.

also, i love the dynamic between january and her best friend, shadi. their relationship made me cry (good tears).
