LOVE THIS BOOK! It's so cute and heartwarming and realistic and I cried happy tears at the end. I feel like enemies to lovers is either a hit or miss but this really just hit the nail on the head. Gus was amazing but JANUARY was the star of the show. I have never identified with a character more and from the beginning when she was talking about the difference between fiction and women's fiction I was like "This girl is reading my exact thoughts and opinions verbatim, are we the same person?!" Overall great read, would definitely recommend, and I am no longer in a reading slump!

“I’ve never met someone who is so perfectly my favourite person.”

They couldn't be more different, January writes bestselling romances, and Augustus is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. They used to be college rivals and now the only thing they have in common is that they're neighbours by a lake. Except when writer's block hits them both, they decide to make a bet by switching genres to see who could be more successful in the other's category. Now they're going on romance book-worthy dates to help Gus, and interviews with stories that easily could come from nightmares to help January. The only catch? They can't fall for each other.

I completely fell in love with January and Augustus, like completely. They now own my entire heart. Emily Henry has an immersive writing style that hooked me from the second I opened the book. The romance was so beautifully developed, but even with that, this story wasn't just a plain romance book, it dealt with big topics such as grief and abuse, but it did it in such a beautiful way. This story will hold a special place in my heart for a long long time. P.s. if you decide to read this book, I suggest you read the UK version because that version's ending fits January and Augustus much much better than the US ending.

The more I think about this book post-read, the more I like it. Loved the pacing and the characters - as a writer myself, I saw a lot of myself (aka the struggle!) in these characters. It's a great way to show dealing with grief and heartbreak and how you aren't defined by just one thing.

This book was not what I suspected at all and I mean that in the best way possible. I was going into this thinking I was gonna have a light read and then suddenly I was extremely emotionally involved and crying. Brilliantly written and the perfect mix of funny fluff and emotional roller-coaster. Will definitely read it again!
