I was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and my brother and when we saw a fancy bed, he thought about this book. I had never read it, so I thought I did. It was fun. Not particularly life-changing or anything, but fun.
I'm a little sad that the bedroom they slept in was taken down.

I remembered how much this book made me want to run away to live in the MFA as a kid, but I hadn’t remembered how much I loved the characters themselves - all so delightfully flawed and relatable in their own ways.
One of my favorite books as a kid. This books also inspired Wes Anderson to write parts of The Royal Tenenbaums.
Read this physical paperback from the library (!) For short book book club. Really enjoyed it! It was smart, funny, adventurous. Creative storyline. Characters were delightful. Loved it! Will definitely be reading it to my kids.
I decided to re-read (well listen) to this book again just because. It's still cute. I remember liking this book as a child and it really explains a lot about why I am the way I am.

Dated but just as delightful as when I first read it as a child. I'm guessing that was in 1973, the copyright of the book on my bookshelves, because I think this is my childhood copy.
I read this book in 1970 when I was in 6th grade (like Claudia). I so related to her character in many ways (although I was a youngest not oldest child). While the running away part got me interested, it was the adventure in the Met that really intrigued me. I wanted to be an artist at 11 and I was lucky to pursue my dream and now I work as a graphic designer in a museum. Coincidence? I think not.
