Revolting Rhymes

Roald Dahl

My prince! He loves to chop off heads!
This adorable poetry book is much closer to the original tales than any Disney movie.

I wanted to read this purely because of the Revolting Rhymes reference in Matilda the Musical, and I’m glad I did! We love people who take back power over their story

I saved for this book through our school's book club and I still remember most of them word for word. My children and I read them together now. Glad I have the original version!

I remember having to memorise “Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf” and “The Three Little Pigs” for school in a group and thinking how much more interesting and appealing these classic fairy tales and nursery rhymes were through the eyes of Dahl.

Love these! Nice and disgusting.

"I guess you think you know this story.
You don't. The real one's much more gory.
The phoney one, the one you know,
Was cooked up years and years ago. . . .

With his famous wicked humor and the cunning of a big bad wolf, master storyteller and satirist Roald Dahl retells his six favorite fairy tales. Get ready for Dahl's diabolical version of what really happened to Cinderella, Goldilocks, the Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White, and Little Red Riding Hood." (From Amazon)

A great collection of poetry in Dahl style.
