This was a hard book to read, not only because of the current state of our country - but also because I kept falling asleep. Throughout reading, I thought I was missing something - like some deeper meaning. I didn't.

I enjoyed watching the play, and I also enjoyed reading the book. Even though dystopian themes don't usually interest me, it was a pleasant experience.
Don’t have the energy to write a full review but here are my key opinions
- the first classic that I’ve read where the storyline hooked me and kept me reading and interested
- I don’t like Winston
- I understand why this ending in necessary and adds to the story and the message, but I still didn’t like it (these types of endings just aren’t for me)
- love love love the way language was used to control people (not having certain words so that people cannot even express or notice what they are missing)
