A harrowing and heartfelt graphic novel memoir about a couple facing the death of their one year old daughter, Rosalie, or Rodzy as she named herself. It was difficult even taking a glimpse into Hart’s life after such an unexpected and terrible loss. I know the feeling of losing someone way too young and I still have times when I cry, just struck with thoughts of their unfair exit from life on the drive home or just standing at my work station (having your boss pop over to talk to you just at that moment is always fun). Hart did an amazing job getting this story out into the world, his words and art are charged and every page brings the reader along in his heartbreak and healing.

I can't imagine what this family went through or anything close to it, but reading this was such a raw experience. There were parts of it that felt almost like I was eavesdropping on their pain, like I had no right to be part of this. It was interesting to read this through the eyes of a father and to see his grieving process and the struggle of moving forward. I loved this style of storytelling and there were a lot of parallels and themes in this book which, combined with the illustrations, made his story that much more tangible. I definitely plan on looking for more from this author.

This was beautiful and heartbreaking, both warm and cold. Tom, thank you for sharing Rosalie with us, and for having the courage to do so in this creative way.

Probably one of the most saddest book I've ever read. Through his art, Hart manages to bring you through his days as he struggles with the loss of his daughter. This book reminds you that you can't hurry grief.
