It takes a lot for me to love a character in their 20s now that I’m decades past that season of life. I get impatient with them easily.

I loved this protagonist. The author shows all the layers of being a young caregiver but also wanting to be a young and free new professional out in the world - the emotional complexity and the family dynamics and the cultural complications, too. Wow.

This book was ok, but there was nothing extraordinary about it. It kept me interested, and it was well written, but the plot was very predictable. I also felt like I didn’t get to know any character other than Maddie. That being said, it wasn’t a bad book, just not something I’d rave about
