I agree with another reviewer - maps are not charts. That being said most of the images in this book are charts and they are kid-friendly. I’m definitely buying a copy for my school library.

Uma Wimple loves to make charts. One day her teacher challenges her to chart her home. With so many factors and ideas Uma gets overwhelmed. Her loving family shares what makes a house a home and with live and support she begins.

Fun concept, beautiful art, and great examples of different types of charts.

Fun solo-reading book with lots of visuals to consider, and some great use of language.

I thought oooh yay this is going to be a book that will get kids excited to make tables and charts. Then it wasn’t.

A young girl loves charts, which are PACKED into the book. There are charts everywhere. Her teacher poo-poos her chart making, dismissing it as doodles, until one fateful day there is actually an assignment issued to chart your house. The fact that "chart your house" is the only direction given is mad frustrating, and I can see why poor Uma struggles with this. Especially as someone who loves charts, she just doesn't know where to even begin.

Would be a fun book to read in conjunction with having kids chart their own house. A brainstorming session might be required, however, to discuss what those charts might include.
