Such a fun read!

Kinda funny. Great for young readers. Lots of twists and turns as I was not expecting the end but it was a good read. Not likely to happen in real life but realistic enough to enjoy. I love how the villain wound up with a happy ending.

Dial A for Aunties is a ridiculously over the top, frothy joy ride. If you're looking for a serious novel that's mulling difficult issues, this is not the right fit for you. But if you want to suspend belief for a few hours, laugh out loud, and just have a good time reading a light and funny novel, then Dial A for Aunties is perfect. Most of the events in the book are completely preposterous, but if you're willing to set aside reality, Meddy and her Aunties are engaging, sparkling characters who come up with the most absurd solutions for covering up an accidental murder. I also learned a bit about Indonesian Chinese culture, although Jesse Q. Sutanto was clearly leaning into exaggerated depictions of her characters. The rom com part of the story is fun too.

Overall, I give Dial A for Aunties an A for creativity, humor, and extravagance. Looking forward to the Netflix movie!
