DID NOT FINISH: 4%

I read the first couple of chapters, reading up until chapter 3, and I just couldn't continue. I just didn't like the writing style and it just felt super childish for me for some reason. The synopsis/premise of the story's caught my attention. However, I just couldn't get past the simplistic prose for some reason. I probably would've actually read the book fully if the prose wasn't off-putting/jarring. Also, probably would've helped if I hadn't read the ending either.

A dark and slightly realistic journey of two trans teens driving cross country, of course, till the monster shows up. Easy and descriptive writing style with complex- but likeable main characters! Will 100% look out for future books by Kisner!!

This was devastating and horrible and made me cry after finishing. A cool 'who's the monster' metaphor. Loved the monster, the sad suicide rep, and the beautiful and real relationship.

I found myself zoning out quite a bit. It was good, but not great. Liked the narrator though. Good premise, not my favorite.
