Holy hell was there so much more to this case than I realized. It really demonstrates just how easily people can slip through the cracks, especially when the cracks are practically canyons.

The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars was that I was honestly hoping for a bit more personal commentary from the author considering she is from the area. I think I've just been itching for another true crime book along the lines of I'll Be Gone in the Dark and The Stranger Beside Me and was kind of hoping this would be it.

I remember when this case first broke when I was 15. As someone who regularly read Creepypastas at that age, it was insane to me how someone could read a story about Slenderman and then go and use fiction as a motive to stab their friend 19 times. I never saw much coverage of the crime or the trial after the initial breaking of the case though, so I never knew the details of the case and Morgan and Anissa's mental illnesses. This was an easy and fast read but it was one that kept giving me details I never expected.

I need to get a copy of this book for myself, seriously.

Incredibly detailed and researched. I remembered when Slenderman was everywhere on the internet, but hadn’t really heard about this case until very recently. Then, I saw that this book was coming out and jumped to read it. Absolutely phenomenal.

Reading the facts obtained through interviews and research is a lot different from the media coverage.
