Published in 2016 and very much a commentary on that time. I learned a lot that I had missed, even though I thought I had been paying attention back then.
Shraya also played with the placing of the stanzas on the page in a unique way. Often it added to a visceral sense of being marginalized.
Lastly there's a lot of vulnerability in this collection. I feel like I say that a lot about poetry, but Shraya takes it to another level. It's like the kind of discomfort that Palahnuik always wished he would evoke in readers.
