This book was an easy read which i really enjoyed. I still undarstand these negative reviews but i think they are taking it too far/ serious.
This is nothing more than a fictional story.
This isnt an self help book nor a guide for how to live your life, just a novel and i think its a nice one.

Its not applicable to real life becauae there are responsibilities we have, no one is just leaving everything behind to follow ones "personal legend" but as a novel its nice and fun to see how following the universes/gods signals turns out for the guy.

I dont buy the "if you want something the universe will make it happen" stuff since it devalues hard work. For example the english guy works and studies for a decade to meet the alchemist but doesnt get his opportunity because it wasnt his destiny, but Santiago's.

The writing reminded me of Platos dualist theory about the world of ideas where there is another perfect world and what we see is just a reflection of it.
There is also a good part of determi ist philosophy, that everything, the history of the universe is already written and cant be changed.

It still has a nice message about following your own path in life and other philosophical reflections.

This is the first book I’ve read of his and I feel like the book has so much to say about how we should be facing each and every day that comes, but at the same time, it has the ability to say those things quietly. The story is not only engaging but it also allows one to reflect on one’s values and the things that we channel our energy into.
