I wanted more Steinbeck after reading East of Eden last year, so I revisited this short one that I read in high school. I had forgotten how sad it was. I do really enjoy Steinbeck’s writing - what to read next by him?

I pretty much enjoyed the book, but it's very different for me from another Steinbeck that I read. I get the message of having a dream and living in such a difficult time when people's dreams never came true. I felt attached and empathetic to the main characters and their stories, but for me, it was kind of too fast reading. I feel like the author didn't uncover the stories enough.

I don't typically enjoy the books I have to read for school, but I absolutely loved this one. I liked how it was short and simple, with not a too complex plot. I loved the characters most, especially Lennie and George and their relationship. The ending was heartbreaking, but I enjoyed the novel nonetheless.
