I liked the book and the writing but it did had one of my least favorite thinks: mentioning real-life brands and stores. I loved the complicated life of Ruth and the messes she falls into. I have no idea what was real and what was her coping with her grief. An absurd dream of a book.

Loved this until the end and even then was still enjoying how vivid it was just the main character's decisions really rankled with me and it felt like there was no reason behind them. Would still strongly recommend as a gripping and fast read.

i admit i was not entirely sold on this one when i read the synopsis—it seemed like it would have all the elements i'd be into, but sometimes you can get burned with these kinds of things. i think while in many ways this is one of those meandering book where there's not a super solid plot or "not a lot happens" it was still buckwild and i really enjoyed it, so at the end of the day, who cares? i don't think i'd broadly recommend this, but i do love books about unhinged women, and so it was a treat

This book follows Ruth, a stripper who goes by the name Baby. Ruth is reeling after her ex-boyfriend mysteriously disappears one day. Ruth begins to think she’s seeing him everywhere. Then Ruth starts working at a BDSM club and makes some unique friends, both in person and virtual.

Most of this book was super engaging and I could not stop reading. However, the end fell so flat for me. Maybe there’s something wrong with me but I didn’t “get it”. There were too many unanswered questions and I felt like some things were very rushed. Just finding reading and I am genuinely confused. However, the prose itself was great. Trust me I love a no plot book and really enjoyed it for the first 90% but I found the end disappointing. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC!
