I'm so in love with this world, another great book that didn't ruin the series by over working the story line. This was very much in its own right a new series.

Le personnage de Steve m'insuporte au plus haut point et tout le monde qui la pousse vers lui

2.5 stars. It was enjoyable enough but Della is not as likeable a heroine as Kylie and I am already over the stupid love triangle thing. And I get really irritated by the mysterious boy ( or parent or whomever) keeping pertinent information from the heroine for no good reason other than to cause conflict or mystery in the story that is prevalent in so many books. And I really don't like Burnett. Protective is ok, dismissive of Della (& all girls) just because they are girls is really annoying. Especially when they have proven themselves intelligent and capable. And again he kept info from Della that was directly relevant to her survival.

lots of twist and tuns.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

I need more. I need more of this series. I want to know more about everyone. I want to know what these "marks" mean and who can see them. I want to know what's so special about this school. I just need more.

I'll admit, when I started reading, I was wary. The writing style reminded me too much of The House of Night series, with curses such as "bullcrappy" used by our main character. I'm seriously not a fan of freshening up curses for whatever reason. In HoN, they gave a reason that Zoey just didn't like swearing, and there it became more I really didn't like her character. But here, Della swears a fair amount, as do other characters, so it just seemed out of character for her and I just kept mentally changing the word every time it showed up. So that had me worried from the beginning that this would just be another train wreck, but I really did enjoy it.

I didn't understand a few things, such as the marks everyone seems to have, but only certain people can see them. I'm going to assume that is due to me not reading any other Shadow Falls books prior to this. Despite that, there was enough information here that I never felt truly lost while reading, even though this is my first time diving into this world. Sure there were some things that confused me, but it didn't take away from the story. There were also some mentions of past events, like relationships between Kylie and Derek, but nothing in great detail so when I go back and read the others I don't feel like anything will truly be spoiled.

The characters were likable enough. I mean, Della got on my nerves a bit, but that was part of her character. She's stubborn and speaks her mind and people call her out on it. So she got on my nerves, but also the nerves of other characters so I'm okay with it. When I questioned why her friends actually stuck around her, Miranda answered it for me. Della can be a bitch, but she's also super sincere and will be there when her friends need her. So it's not like she's really a bitch, but everyone ignores that and loves her anyway, but these characters recognize her flaws and love her despite them. That's what I like to see in character relations.

I kept going back and forth with Chase. He comes off as a douche, but I think that's more because that's how Della sees him and since this is written from her perspective our image of him is a bit biased. He does seem to genuinely care about Della, but he has a strange way of showing it. One thing I like about Della is she generally speaks the truth. She might hold back information, but she is rather truthful. Chase is just full of secret after secret, and I guess he has his reasons, but he wants Della to listen to and trust him. When you are clearly holding secrets and playing the big flirt to boot, that's generally not how you build trust with someone.

I don't know how to feel about Burnett. Della calls him out numerous times on his chauvinistic viewpoints, and he does admit to it and try to work on it, but again, he withholds information that could have kept Della safe. Now, it would have been so much better if Della had just told someone, hey something's up with my super senses, but she didn't want to be seem as weak in front of Burnett. His wife definitely balances him out, and I wish she had more page time.

Not entirely sure what the plot was supposed to be here. There's a double murder, presumably done by a vampire, so I thought that would be the big plot point. But then we have Della looking for her aunt and uncle she didn't know existed. Then trying to get a hold of her cousin. Then the whole "cold" thing she's going through. I guess it's the reborn thing, since hello that's the title of the book, but I really couldn't tell. You know something is going to happen because she keeps mentioning her senses turn on and off, but there's just such a big deal about the murder you just shove it to the side every time it comes up, just as Della does. Maybe things would have been clearer if I'd read the other books first, but judging by how no one else (except Chase, of course) knew this was going to happen, I'm not sure.

I'd definitely like to check out the other books in this series. I truly did enjoy this book. It was one of those reads where every time I put it down, I kept thinking about the characters and what was going to happen. I'm also curious how the vampires can stay out in the sun light. That was not explained here. Either way, I'm making a note to pick up C.C. Hunter's other books on my next library trip.
