This book is sort of interesting, and was probably VERY interesting 10 years ago... but a lot has changed and a lot of the commentary is outdated. That's not the books fault or the author's fault, though, and not why I'm giving it only two stars. I remember looking at the back cover (in 2010) and thinking that this would be an interesting sociological read, and I came away with the impression that it's more of a dry economics read.

Speaking of being outdated: the 45th President DOES get name-checked once, but since this was published 7 years before he started a trade war with China, it's only a passing reference. Obviously, no mention of the gig economy, Amazon purchasing Whole Foods, streaming subscription services, or social media, all of which I think are major considerations in today's financial ecosystem. Unless someone is looking for a time capsule, this book can probably just stay on the shelf gathering dust.
