A must read for any fan of British murder mystery shows. It has all the elements, but in a literary form. The characters are, of course, the main focus and point of this novel, but I loved the plot too. It had a good share of unexpected twists, confusing moments, and suspenseful scenes. You quickly get hooked up, so it's a very pleasant and fast read

What a fun story! It's certainly had some agatha Christie Miss Marple vibes going on, and it was interesting how everything was wrapped up. I feel like the sequel will continue off some of this story. I will seek out the sequel this year for sure.

A very good debut mystery from celebrity Richard Osman. A group of pensioners try to solve a local murder is the premise and it is entertaining throughout. The mystery was compelling but the resolution left me feeling oddly dissatisfied.

I also felt there were too many point of view characters... you had the pensioners of course, 2 police officers who I actually liked then about 4 or 5 others who were important to the plot, but I think we could have done without following, especially at the start when the new characters were coming thick and fast.

Overall I liked it but felt there was definitely room for improvement and will pick up the sequel at some stage.

Preferred it more this time round. Audiobook was good.

Its ok. The characters are underdeveloped and boring. The plot only makes sense like half the time. There are some funny/cute moments but they're generally overshadowed by shitty plot or bad character arcs. This book had potential but its kinda a flop.

Kirjassa on useita eri kertojia, joten lukija saa yllin kyllin perspektiivejä tapahtumien tarkasteluun.

Hyvää kirjassa on hahmojen välinen ystävyys.

SYNOPSIS:
  • Four residents of a nice retirement village meet to discuss unsolved crimes on Thursdays. The four residents are Elizabeth, Ron, Ibrahim, and Joyce, and they are all septuagenarians.
  • When a real murder happens, the group works together to solve it.

MY THOUGHTS
  • This was an excellent cozy mystery with a unique premise. I enjoyed all the characters, and the writing is great, too. The writing is witty & entertaining, and overall, it was a fun read.
  • The story is mostly told in third person narrative, but some chapters, which are presented as Joyce’s diary entries, are first person POV.
  • Charming, engaging read, and I adored all the members of the Thursday Murder Club. I hope I can find an equally amusing group when I am older & living in a retirement village.
  • There’s lot of red herrings, and there are a lot of characters. It took me a little bit to get all the names straight.

TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️excellent cozy mystery with elderly folks as the main characters
