I wanted to read this book because I absolutely love Magnus Bane, I want him to be my best friend and he is such a fashion icon. I am waiting for the other books in the series to arrive, but I was missing the shadow world, so I decided to go back by reading about the adventures that Magnus has been on.

There are eleven short stories about the famous warlock in the Downworld – Magnus Bane. Magnus has appeared in all of the series that Cassandra Clare has wrote, so we have seen him play the hero, loyal friend and supporting partner in all series, but we’ve never seen it from his point of view. Until now. Magnus has so many stories up his sleeve that it could fill many books, but these stories shed a little light on his character and how he came to be where he is now. These are the stories he probably wishes never got out.

My favourite short stories of this one was chapter or story eight which was called What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who has Everything (And You’re Not Officially Dating Anyway). As you can tell by the title it was set in between City of Ashes and City of Glass and it was the story of him trying to find the perfect present for Alec, even though they aren’t together. I think I loved this story so much because we’ve always seen Alec as the shy and inexperience one, yet in this story we see Magnus as the nervous one stressing about the perfect gift. Plus I loved Isabelle’s appearance in this short story to tell him that she wants them to be together. I loved the addition of the demon as well trying to give his input after Ragnor and Catarina were not helping.

I liked all these stories and I loved to know Magnus more and I can’t wait to read more of these short stories.

Some of these stories were funny, some were sad, and a few were really sweet. I loved seeing Magnus through out history and learning more about him. Highly recommend reading this to fully appreciate Magnus Bane and just how wrapped up he is and has been in the Shadowhunter world.
