This book pulled me in so many directions, just like a telenovela. But I have to admit it fell more flat to me then anything.

I just couldn't get hooked to the main characters Jasmine and Ashton. Ashton especially made my eyes roll at times with his lukewarm actions and irrational train of thought. Jasmine just made me frustrated with her rash decisions. But I'm conflicted, this played out exactly how a telenovela would. Where I'd be screaming at the tv saying, "DON'T DO THAT!". So in that regard the author hit it right on the nail. The only issue is once we hit the end of the book I didn't get the same satisfying payoff.

I would still recommend this book though. It's definitely got a good pace to keep you hooked till the end. The Latina representation and a look at behind the scenes of the film industry made me appreciate these challenges. A solid 3 stars!

I felt as though there was not much chemistry between the two characters. I didn’t feel particularly attached to either of them either. The main character was boring, her two cousins were more likeable and also gave her good advice most of the time that she always ignored. Male lead was boring too. It was good enough for me to keep reading. Some parts were funny and it was an enjoyable quick read overall.

I really wanted to like this book, but it was not for me. I loved the premise of a telenovela in book form, but unfortunately, I just couldn’t get on board with this one. I was not a fan of Ashton as the leading man, he was a bit annoying always trying to keep his life private while still wanting to be a big star! Just not my favorite.

I liked the story.
The whole cast was interesting.
But it was predictable in a lot of layers.
At some point, you think the main characters are just bad for each other when the whole time they were good for each other, then all are forgiven.

So it fell in that area for me, but I did enjoy the book.
Was expecting more of the characters. so my guess that's why it fell to 3.
